OUR HISTORY

In 2009 Talitha Puri Negri, volunteered in Grapesyard School; located in Korogocho, one of Nairobi’s 36 slums. After 4 years of volunteer service, she founded Tumaini Trust in 2014, to provide scholarships to bright and economically disadvantaged students, within Korogocho.
Tumaini Trust boasts more than 10 years of education support at community level, over 200 scholarships, student mentorship, counselling and internship facilitation for its scholars. The Trust has built community-based partnerships in Korogocho, bringing on board parents, local administration, and primary schools.

WHAT WE DO

Tumaini Trust provides:

• Merit-based scholarships to academically performing students from Grapesyrad, Maranatha, Starlight and St. John schools in Korogocho. The scholarships enable students to study in leading public Secondary Schools and Universities in Kenya.

• Facilitation for attachment and internship placements for our university students into corporate companies and institutions in Nairobi and major towns in Kenya.

• Support programs for the local community through:
– music festivals and sports tournaments
– clean-up of the surrounding environment
– distribution of sanitary pads to local schools
– psycho-social support and counselling
